 Temple's Speciality:
     
  Mother Poongali Amman appears majestically in a sitting posture with left leg on the right leg touching the floor. She is all merciful with a lotus on the right hand and placing the left on the lap.

 General Information:
     
  The Mahamandap is just after the passing the entrance.  Lord Maha Ganapathy graces the devotees from the left of the sanctum sanctorum.  The very darshan of Mother Poongali Amman relieves the devotee of all worries in his/her mind.

 Greatness Of Temple:
     
  Special pujas are performed to Mother Poongali Amman on full moon days with Homas.  Poochorial – raining flowers on the deity – is grandly celebrated on the Chithirai full moon day in April-May.   On the new moon day abishek is dedicated with 16 kinds of cosmetic items such as oil, honey, turmeric powder and flour, ghee, rosewater, milk, curd, green coconut, sandal etc.  The 16 abishek materials represent 16 kinds of wealth and prosperity.
Tirumanjanam is dedicated to Amman in Aani month – June-July.  In the next month Aadi-July-August, Fridays are days of special pujas and Alankaras.  Amman is dressed (Alankara) with Fruits on First Friday, sandal paste on the second Friday, bangles on the third Friday and currency notes on the fourth Friday.  Vegetable varieties are used for the Alankara in Thai month – January-February – on the third Friday.  This is offered as Prasad to the devotees.  There will be no shortage in food needs to the devotees.   One time puja is followed in the temple.
Kali, though considered furious in nature, is all merciful and smiling, relieving Her devotees from any difficulty in life.  She also removes pride and arrogance occupying human minds.
 
     
  Temple History:
     
  The place where the temple exists now was garden of flowers – Poonthottam in Tamil.  Amman rose from this place with a smile.  Hence, She is praised as Poo – Kali Amman = Poongaliamman.  The temple is in the midst of Thillai Nagar, Thennur, Puthur and Worayur.
