 Greatness Of Temple:

Lord Vinayaka has His own temple near the Kaleeswarar temple on the way.  The Kula-tank was created Lord Ganapathi for water needs to conduct Homas, hence called Homa Kulam.  During the preparations for the Wedding of Lord and Mother, Shiva-Parvathi, evil powers tried to stop the event.  Mother took the form of Vishwarupa Kali and destroyed these malefic spirits.  Yet, She was still furious.  Lord looked at Her with all love.  Ambica felt shy and turned back to Her original charming form.  As Ambica belongs to the love of Lord, She is worshipped as Sivakama Sundari.

As Lord calmed down the fury of Kali, He is praised as Kaleeswarar.  Lord Chandikeswara in the Komukham of Mother Ambica in this temple is believed to belong to Krutha Yuga when He had faces.  He had three in Thretha Yuga, two in Dwapara Yuga and one in the present Kali Yuga.  This very fact is evidence to the antiquity of the temple.  Worshipping this Krutha Yuga Chandikeswara, relieves the devotees of their sins of generations of the past.

  Temple History:

Avathar of Gods are different in each Yuga.  According to this rule, Lord Vinayaka was already in existence even before the wedding of Mother Parvathi with Lord Shiva in one Yuga.  It is also said that Lord Vinayaka was the purohit conducting the Shiva Parvathi wedding in the holy soil of Tirumanjeri.  Indeed, Vinayaka stayed in this place, performed pujas as per Agama rules to Lord Shiva of this place-Villianallur only.  He took two forms, one as a purohit to conduct the divine wedding in Tirumanajeri and one for stay in this place, thus, in his two forms, He is a twin Vinayaka in this place.  As desired by Mother Parvathi, He became the eldest offspring of the divine couple.

Special Features:
