 Greatness Of Temple:

The temple was built by a group called Desai who were in the service of the kings of Vijaya Nagaram.  Originally, this was a Sri Rama temple with Mother Sita and Lakshmana.  There was no shrine for Sri Hanuman then.  There was a temple for Him at a distance of about half kilometer from here.  People brought that Hanuman and installed Him with a shrine in this temple.
The Brahmmotsavam begins on the Tamil New Year day and lasts for 10 days.  The festival will be very grand with special pujas, archanas and processions daily.  The flag hoisting takes place on the Chithirai star day and ends on the Tiruvonam star day.  Purattasi Navarathri in September-October also is celebrated with all grandeur.

  Temple History:

When renovations were going on in the temple about 700 years ago, the idol of Mother Alarmel Mangai and the Panchaloka idol of Perumal were found while digging a pit. Devotees began worshipping Perumal and Thayar.  A particular sect of the Desai group was frequently travelling to Tirupati and Sholingar to worship Lord Venkatachalapathi and Lord Narasimmah respectively.  They installed these new found idols and named them Prasanna Venkata Narasimha Perumal.
Devotees throng the temple for worship of Chakkarathazhwar.  Lord Narasimha appear to the devotees from this discuss idol.  Devotees believe that worshipping Chakkarathzhwar on Wednesdays and Saturdays with Tulsi garlands would bless them to realize their wishes.  It is noteworthy that worshipping Lord Prasanna Venkata Narasimha Perumal brings the combined pleasure of worshipping Lord Venkatesa in Tirupathi and Lord Narasimha in Sholingar.
