  The temple celebrates Maha Shivrathri in March-April, Tuesday and Friday special pujas in Aadi month covering July-August. The special Horse festival is celebrated once in five or seven or nine years – in odd number years. Many good events occur through the blessing words – Arul Vakku in Tamil, believe the people from their experience.

 General Information:
     
  Aiyanarsami is on a horse at the left side of the entrance and Karuppanasami is on his horse at the right.  Thoorvangasami is on the Royal Horse – Pattathu Kudirai in Tamil.  Then is the Kavalkara Thevar on his horse followed by Servar Kudirai Swamigal also on his horse.  The idols of sub deities are in a round.  Karpoora Deivam is presiding deity.  Aiyanarsami is in the Mani Mandapam

  A Rajagopuram was constructed in the year 2012 and the consecration also was celebrated.
 
     
  Temple History:
     
  The name Melakkal of the place is based on the fame of this temple.  The people of the village decided to dig a tank for harvesting the rain water which was going waste.  While digging in the jungle area, the villagers found these idols at a depth of 15 feet.  Some the villagers were possessed with some divine power.  They built the temple at the place they dig for making a tank.  Aiyanar Swami became their family deity.
