The temple belongs to Chola period.  It was buried under wild bushes.  Some used the place to make kiln.  They did not take any interest to pick up the many idols scattered there.  It is believed that Lord appeared in the dream of one Maran and directed him to build the temple.  A committee was formed then and the temple came into being.  The consecration was performed in June 2013.
