  The temple celebrates Maha Shivrathri in February-March, Tamil New year day falling almost on April 14, 18th day of Aadi (July-August), Vinayaka Chaturthi (August-September), Saraswathi Puja in September-October, Varalakshmi puja in July-August. There will be Vilakku pujas on important days. The temple also performs special pujas on Fridays in Aadi, new moon and full moon days and on Thai Pongal falling almost on January 14.

  Both Lord Valagurunatha Swami and Mother Angala Easwari grace the devotees together from the sanctum sanctorum.

  Temple History:
     
 

About 500 years ago, in a devastating flood in Vaigai river, a box was found floating in the river.  One community claimed the box while other claimed the contents in the box.  Fishermen caught hold of the box and brought it to the place where the temple now stands.  On opening the box, people found 21 idols and Swami and Amman and a bowl.  Worshipping the deities began from this time.
