The nine Vaishnava places are being worshipped by devotees as related to the nine planets.  Perumal represents each planet in the following Nava Tirupati temples and is worshipped accordingly.

Perumal is worshipped as 1) Sun in Srivaikundam, 2) as Moon in Varagunamangai – Natham, 3) Mars in Tirukolur, 4) Mercury in Tirupuliankudi, 5) Jupiter in Alwar Tirunagari, 6) Venus in Then Tiruperai, 7) Saturn in Perungulam and 8& 9) as Rahu and Ketu in Twin Tirupati – Tholaivilimangalam.

These nine shrines in the Pandya region are as famous as the nine in Chola region.  As Perumal Himself represents the planets, there are no shrines for the planets in the temples separately.  Devotees go the respective temple concerning their planetary problems.  To visit the temple using the bus transports would be very difficult and time consuming.  Devotees are advised to hire a cab to cover all the temples in a single day.

For those in Chennai, Tamilnadu Tourism Department offers the tour.  On the first and third Fridays, the bus leaves Chennai and returns on Wednesday morning.  Including boarding and lodging, the charge per head is Rs. 1,100.
