The sages of Taruvanam thought that the way to salvation is through Yagnas and penance only. Without worshipping Lord Shiva they remained with ego. To destroy their ego, Lord Shiva assumed the form PITCHADANAR and destroyed the chastity of their wives also. Tirumal(Maha Vishnu) assumed the form of Mohini and destroyed the penance of the sages. Through the power of their penance sages understood who is responsible for this. Immediately they performed an Abichara yagna and directed all the things that came out of that yagna towards Lord Shiva. A demon by the name Muyalagan came towards Lord Shiva and Lord Shiva put him down to the ground and danced on his back. Uma devi felt sad on hearing this news. She being a Sakthi herself why should HE made Tirumal as Mohini by keeping her aside,felt Uma devi. She felt sulking(pretended as if quarreling). And thus wanted to play a game on Shiva. Having understood the reason for Sakthi’s sulking,HE wanted to console her.HE went to sakthi and told her that she gets divided int four according to the work. HE said ‘You as yourself, as Tirumal, as Durga and Kali. You get transformed as my wife when you are with me, as Tirumal in the male form, as Durga in the battle field and as Kali in anger. So you should feel that Tirumal, Kali, Durga are you only. At once the anger of Umadevi disappeared, and she prayed Lord Shiva that she would like to see the dance that HE performed at Tarugavanam once again. Lord shiva performed the dance once again. This dance is called Gowri thandavam. She asked him several times to pardon her for her sulking. Lord Shiva also excused and united her into HIM. Having explained the reasons for Her sulking, having prayed to perform the dance once again HE performed the dance before Her(in HER presence). This Moorthi is called PRARTHANA MOORTHI. Rudra Ganga is the place for HIM. Archana should be done with white lotus flowers and naivedyam to be offered is Sweet rice(sarkarai pongal), and Gee lamp should be lit on wednes day. Obstacles in getting married will be removed and one will get wealth also.
