Bhairavar removed the middle head of Brahma(four faced god),by screwing it out with the help of his hand nails for having ridiculed Lord Shiva with a laugh. Then under the order and directions of Shiva and with the help of Athibalan, AAalagalan, Kananmugan, kalavegan and somagan(assistant leaders), wnt to the forest and took the blood of Rishis, sages by piercing them with his soolayudam(trident), collecting the blood in a skull(kapalam). Then he proceede to the celestial world (Devalokam), collected the blood of celestials(Devas). With this he resurrectd the dead back into life and thus destroyed their ego. Then they went to Vaikundam, the abode Lord Vishnu. There he killed with the help of his soolayudam  Vadugasenan, the first security guard of Maha Vishnu. Carried the dead body on his shoulder. Then Bhairavar stood in front of Maha Vishnu who was lying in his bed of serpant surrounded by His wives. He told Maha Vishnu that the purpose of his visit was to receive alms of blood from Him. Gladly Maha Vishnu made a cut in His own forehead with the help of His nail, removed a nerve therefrom and poured the blood oozing out of that nerve into the skull carried by Bhairavar.

Though thousand have passed by collecting the blood in this way the skull in which the blood was collected did not get filled up. Maha Vishnu became weak and became unconscious. Maha Vishunu’s wives having seen this got perplexed. Bhaiavar consoled them and made Maha Vishnu wake up. Then at the request of Maha Vishnu Brought Vdugasenan back to life. The reason for collecting blood from Rishis, sages and Tirumal was only to remove their ego and pride and nothing else. Thus Shiva who got their their blood to remove their ego and self pride got the name RAKTHA PITCHADANA MOORTHI. The place we have to go to worship him is Kasi(Banaras). On Tuesdays He should be worshipped with  oleander flower(arali flower) and the neivedyam to be offered to Him is Plantain fruits. Seasame (yel in Tamil) oil lamp should be lighted before him. We will get relieved from the tortures of our enemies. By taking a bath in Ganges and worshipping Lord Vishwanath we will be relieved from all our sins
