DISCHARGING A VERY BIG ARROW

The chozha king became an enemy of Vikraman Pandiyan. He planned to capture the Aalavai city. A few Vikraman’s friendly kings from the Northern country now joined with enemy. They entered the AAlavai town and created a havoc there. Drove away the people from there. Robbed the properties of the merchants. Caught the cows and took them away. On seeing all these happening, the citizens became jittery. When the news reached the Pandiyan king, he immediately thought Lord Sundaresa peruman in his mind. At that time a divine voice was heard by him. “O” Sekaran, Don’t get upset and worried. Oppose the enemy’s army with your army and stand against them. I will definitely help you”.  Pandiyan got rid of his fear, and entered the battle field. The enemies have demolished the lakes in some places. To repair the damage he sent a portion of the army there. Joined with others he fought with firmness. At this time,  one hunter entered into the army of the Pandiyan king. He smashed the enemies. There was no one in that crowd in the art of discharging arrows, like him

When one arrow was discharged it killed one hundred persons. Pandiyan could not guess as to when this person with magical powers (Maayaavi in tamil) joined in his army. He removed one arrow that had pierced the chest of one enemy and examined it. In that arrow there was a seal/emblem of Bull engraved on it. The name Sundaresan was engraved on it. Then only he came to understand that the person standing is none other than Lord Sundaresar .By the arrow discharged by the Lord who has come in disguise, the Chozha army lost their valour and retreated from the battle field. In the battle field ,with a black coloured body and an arrow, just like a Indra arrow and black cloud and fought, Lord Shiva (in disguise as an hunter) saw the smile on the face of the Pandiyan king. Then he disappeared from the scene. The king Vankiya sekaran won the battle. Whenever a  blemish came for the Pandiyan kingdom, to remove that blemish, Meenakshi sundareswarr rendered his help on several occasions. To the Lord who helped him to win the battle, the Pandiyan king gave jewels made of gems, an arrow made by shining ruby, and a bow with the name Sundaram engraved on it. He ruled for a very long time without faulting in justice.
