Baba demands the six bad qualities of mind  !. Kama 2, krotha  3, Loba  4. Matha and   5. Mathsarya (1. Desire/Lust  2. Anger  3. Miserliness  4. Infatuation/desire  5. Ego/arrogance  6. Envy/enmity ) as Dakshina and not money. Don’t worry about your not having the money.(cash).  Give these six bad qualities as Dakshina for Baba. Then they will disappear from your mind permanently. Baba shook his head in approval for the above explanation  that was given thus by her husband. Mrs Tharkad prostrated at the feet of Baba with tearful eyes and said that she had offered all these bad six qualities of her mind  as her  Dakshina to Baba. There after her life became a joyful one.  Baba felt that it is the Greed that destroys the peace of the minds of many. To bring down these bad qualiies as far as possible and as early  as possible and remove them completely from the devotees minds  Baba demanded dakshina from them. But he knows the art asking  things other than cash(money) from good souls and made them further good. Baba asked Rupees fifteen from his devotee Prof. Narke as Dakshina. The very next moment tear started rolling down from his eyes. He did not have that much money. Baba had asked now.

But he is not able to offer that amount. Baba rebuked Prof. Narke and said “Don’t I know that you don’t have that much money?  But I want to get some thing whose value is greater than money from you as Dakshina. You give to me Dakshina from the book Yoga Vashistam which you are reading daily.” That is the devotee must take fifteen morals from that book observe that in his day to day life without fail and regularly. Narke accepted that with a moving heart. His heart melted with love on knowing the keen intellect and wisdom of Baba undertakes to make him still further good. Lots of people will make supplication and entreaty (Venduthal in Tamil)with Baba. Since  the time the fame of Baba spread far and wide,  the number of devotees who made entreaty also was on the rise. There was a steady increase day by day in the number of devotees visiting Shirdi to have a darshan of Baba. A devotee by the name Mr. Solkar was living in Thane a suburb of Mumbai.

He became very happy on hearing the greatness of Baba. He was serving as a temporary employee in the city civil court. He was poor, He had to care of and look after a family with good number of relations. Suddenly he took a vow in his mind. If a temporary employee writes the departmental examination and passes in it  he will be made a permanent employee. There will a pay hike in salary. “Baba if I pass in the departmental exam and become a  permanent employee the I will not forget you. I will come to Shirdi. In your presence at Shirdi by uttering your name I will distribute sugar candy to all the devotees there.”  He started preparing for the exam with complete faith in Baba. The exam day also arrived. Before starting to write the exam he once again confirmed in his mind the vow he has made to Baba. Then he wrote the exam with confidence, His confidence did not go waste.

Baba had never let down the devotees who had reposed complete faith in him. Solkar did pass in the exam and was made a permanent employee. It may some time for the new pay scale to come into effect. Then only he will get the new pay on hand. Solkar felt that it is not right and good to wait till then to fulfill his vow, But he requires money to travel to Shirdi. How he will get that amount? He thought over it for a while and came to a conclusion. Reduce his expenses and save the money. He decided that he will not mix sugar in his tea. Because of that he was able to reduce the expense  and save money to proceed to Shirdi. With the amount saved thus he was able to meet the expenses of travel to Shirdi. He came to Shirdi and stood before Baba. His inner mind told him that he is standing before the God who is in a human form. He prostrated a the feet of Baba. Baba was looking at Solkar affectionately. He did not utter a word. Then he started distributing sugar candy to all the devotees assembled there. Baba called one of the devotees. “Look there. There one of my devotee is distributing sugar candy to the devotees Give him a cup of tea with full sugar. Those assembled there could not understand the meaning of what Baba had said.

But the person who should understand it, understood the inner meaning. Solkar understood that Baba is aware of the fact of my not drinking tea without sugar so as to come to Shirdi. He rushed towards Baba and prostrated before him once again. Baba lifted him by his both hands and gently stoked his head. “ Only I am residing in the inner chambers of your heart  always both in the day and night. I am observing each and every action of yours. Don’t I know the sacrifice you have made to visit Shirdi. “ The look of Baba on Solkar conveyed this to him. Once while Baba was sitting in the mosque, one lizard produced a ‘tik’, ‘tik’ sound. One devotee sitting before Baba asked Baba whether this sound of the lizard coveys good omen or bad omen.  Baba replied “This lizard has felt that its sister is arriving from Aurangabad. That is why it is making this sound in a happy mood.”  “What, a sister for a lizard?” the head of the devotee who asked the question swirled. But that sister lizard arrived at Shirdi as told by Baba. It is a very interesting incident ..
