  Temple History:

A king ruling this region had an administrative problem which he could not solve despite all efforts.  A great yogi came to his place.  The king explained his problem.  The yogi told him that there was a defect in the construction of his palace and advised to worship Lord Shiva.  The king installed a Linga and worshipped and named the Linga Bhoominathar.  He found a solution then.  A shrine was later built for Mother too and was named Jegadambikai.
