It is noteworthy that the idol of Lord Harihara Putra-Sastha with His consorts Poorana and Pushkla is made of a single stone that produces a musical tone. The idol is too alluring. A 10 day Brahmmotsavam is celebrated in May-June, beginning with flag hoisting on the first day and procession on each day. Theerthavari in Vellaru river and wedding festival take place on the last day. Lord comes in procession in the flower palanquin the next day when Nadaswaram and Thavil artists from near places gather in the temple offering music worship to Lord Sastha. |

Temple History: | |
People of this region were once facing threats from robbers. They believed that Sastha worship would bring an end to this threat. They installed Lord Hariharaputra-Sastha with His consorts Purna and Pushkala and began the prayers. They were happy that the robbers disappeared. Yet, a few years ago, the Panchaloka idols of Sastha with Purana and Pushkala had been stolen. But the thieves themselves had brought back the idols and had left them in the temple. The fact that worshipping Sastha with a whip in hand would bring relief from thieves was thus established. |
