Opposite to the Mahamandap, Mother Sivakama Sundari holding Ankusa, Pasa and showing Her Abhaya Hastha-hand assuring protection from fear, graces the devotees from Her shrine facing south. Lord in His Linga form blesses the devotees from the sanctum sanctorum facing east. Lord Vinayaka on the left and Lord Muruga with His consorts Valli and Deivanai are in the in the Artha Mandapa. Mother Mari Amman is praised by the devotees as Chella Mari Amman. Special abishek and pujas are dedicated to Lord Kala Bhairava on the Ashtami day – eighth day – in the new moon fortnight. Besides all Shiva related special pujas throughout the year, Navarathri is grandly celebrated in the temple.

Being half of Lord Shiva, Ambica played the part of a beloved Mother and fulfilled His desire. As so loving and devoted to Lord, Ambica came to be praised as Sivakama Sundari meaning so dear to Lord. This is one of the temples, where Ambica is praised by devotees by this name. |
