 Greatness Of Temple:

The place is also known as Kattaram and Kedaram in the scriptures.  River Krishna is too deep in this region.  Frequent floods had destroyed huge parts of the place.  Presently, it has fields and forests only.  The population too is very small.  There are 600 steps to reach the hill temple.  The Swaymabu Narasimha idol on a rock is not clear.  Mother is praised as Chenchu Lakshmi.  Chenchu in Telugu means hunter community woman.  They had named the Mother after their community.  While digging the land here for a tank, one worker was hit by a stone and it began bleeding.  Testing the rock, it turned to be a diamond rock.  Further digging brought out some idols also.  Hence, Lord Narasimha is praised as Vajralaya.  Vajram means diamond.

  Temple History:

The place is called Kedavaram after the name of King Kedavarma ruling this region in 11th century.  Lord appeared in the dream of a Yadava king of nearby land and told him about His presence at Kedavaram.  This was duly communicated by him to Kedavarma.  Kedavarma climbed the hill and found the idol.  As the space at the hill top was not adequate for building a temple, it was built at the foothill.  Festivals began to be celebrated.  Lord Narasimha graces the devotees with Mother Mahalakshmi.  There is also a shrine for Sri Anjaneya in the temple.
