 Greatness Of Temple:

The anthill shrine in the temple enjoys more importance.  People pour milk in the anthill with eggs for relief from all adverse and evil effects on them leaving only happiness in return.  People pray to Mother Chinnamman especially on Tuesdays, Fridays and Sundays for Child boon.  Special abishek is dedicated to Amman on Fridays by about 12.00 a.m. when the Rahukalam nears ending.  Doing abishek with milk at this time, relieves the devotee from debt burdens and also ensures unity among couples.
With the staunch faith that Amman shall be present at any function in their homes, devotees submit the first invitation at the feet of Amman and proceed then.  There is a neem tree and a palm tree in the temple for quite a number of years.  They tie a yellow thread in the neem tree to speed up marriages delayed due to some reasons or other.
The devotee crowd becomes huge sooner the month Aadi is born – July-August.  A 10 day festival begins on a Friday following the full moon day in the month.  Those who had realized their wishes offer pudding-pongal nivedhana and vastras to mother during these days with special abisheks.  There will be special pujas and procession of Amman.  On the 9th day, there will be pongal offering and dancing with fire pots – Agni Karaka Aattam.  Devotees offer porridge (Koozh in Tamil) to Amman on the 10th day.  108 conch abishek is dedicated to Amman in the month of Karthikai – November-December.  This conch abishek theertha is offered as Prasad to those suffering from small pox.
