 Greatness Of Temple:

It is said that this temple was built by people of Sengunthar community.  It is still being administered by people of this community.  Hence this area is called Sengunthar Thottam.  The temple that rose simply with a shrine for Lord Muruga in the beginning has grown big in size and fame now.

  Temple History:

About 100 years ago, a thief entered this temple and placed his hands on the idol of Lord Muruga to take off the jewel on Him.  Sooner he laid the hands on the idol, he lost his eyes and cried in panic.  People rushed to the temple, came to know what happened, but let the thief free as he had been punished by Lord Himself.  The power and fame of Lord began to spread and the temple is now a crowded worship place today.
