  Temple History:

Losing all the Vedas to the demons, Lord Brahmma came to this place, had a bath in the Lakshmi Saras Theertham and performed intense penance on Lord Vishnu to get back the Vedas.  Lord Vishnu granted darshan to Brahmma and got Him back the Vedas.  As this is the place that ended the sorrow (Shogam) of Brahmma, the place came to be known as Soha Bagat Roopam.  Undergoing many changes, now the place stands with the name Sogathur, according to Sthala Purana.
