Thanks giving:

Devotees perform abishek and offer vastras to Lord and Mother.

 Greatness Of Temple:

The temple is situated on the northern bank of River Tambiraparani.  Mother graces from a shrine left of the Lord.  It is said that Lord and Mother grace the devotees in Shiva-Shakti form in the temple.  Conforming to the philosophy, the prakara covers both Lord and Mother shrines.  Newly wedded couples pray here with abishek and Vastras to both for happy married life.  Couples separated due to some reasons pray here for re-union.  The wedding festival of Lord and Mother is celebrated on the Uthiram star day in the month of Karthikai-November-December.  Special pujas are performed in the Kala Bhairava shrine on the 8th day of new moon fortnight.  Those worried about their debt burdens pray here.

  Temple History:

King Veeramarthanda was a staunch Shiva devotee.  He desired to build a temple for Lord Shiva but could not locate a site for the same.  Lord appeared in his dream and showed this place.  King built the temple then.  Lord Shiva is named Veeramarthandeswarar after the name of the king.
