Lords Vinayaka, Muruga and the presiding deity are facing east.  Navagrahas in a shrine with a Vimana are in the outer prakara.  Kala Bhairava is facing south and Mother Perianayaki Amman the south.  The space of the Mandap is spacious enough for 200 devotees.  Renovation works are underway at the back place.   There are six Kalasas in the temple.

 Greatness Of Temple:
     
 

This is one of the 108 Shiva temples built by Chola kings.  Odhuvars – well versed in Thevaram-Tiruvasagam hymns- are brought to the place with residential facilities etc.  Vedas were taught to temple priests in the year 1890.  Keeping Kailasanathar temple as a centre, other temples were also built here.

With its reputation as described above, the added importance is that Pandavas worshipped in this temple.  As the temple was subjected to damages due to negligence, the family of one Muthiah Gurukkal took care of it, collected donations, renovated and restored the glory of the temple.
