There are two deities in the temple named Munnodi and Chappani. They will ferociously attack those doing any harm to others. There is ash before their shrine made of burning wood. If one uses this on the body and also place it in the Puja room in the house with a clean mind, all problems would be solved. They severely punish those cheating others in money matters and women. Forgiving is not there in their court. After worshippin them the devotee should not immediately turn back. They should turn only ater 10 backward steps. There should be no gossiping in the shrine. Should not speak lies or make noise. Women are not permitted into the shrine. They can pray only from outside. |

While Sri Rama returned from Kanka to Ayodhya, he was followed by doshas caused by killing the enemies in the war. He rested under a tamarind tree here. The tree did not sleep even during night and protected the Lord. Hence, the tree is called Urangapuli – sleepless tamarind tree. The leaves of the tree do not shrink during nights. Karuppusami also protected Sri Rama. The commanders Mandhira Murthy, Bommanan, Thimmanan, Akasaveeran are also here. |
