Once upon a time a king by the name KUBAN ruled the entire world under his flag. On his behalf Tirumal waged against a sage called Thatheesi. While the war was going a stage came when Tirumal could not withstand the onslaught of the sage. Immediately HE sent HIS chakrayutham (weapon called disc)against him. But it came back to him. Immediately Tirumal created another image similar to him. Immediately the sage pressed his foot thumb because of which innumerable Tirumal images appeared.Immediately Tirumal understood that that this sage is much stronger than him in Tapas. So He cannot be opposed. Only the weapon of Lord Shiva can oppose the sage. How this Chakrayutham came to the possession of Tirumal is another story. Once upon a time the entire world got destroyed. So He thought of creating a new world again. So Lord Shiva created Both Brahma and Tirumal. He entrusted with them the jobs of creation and protection. Tirumal wanted a weapon to do his job of protection. Lord Shive with His three eyes and under the light of Sun and Moon gave the weapons Gathai(a  weapon with globe shaped head) and Chakram(disc). Immediately Parvathi wife Lord Shiva on her part gave a conch from her face and Padmam(lotus) from her eyes and hold them she created two extra hands. Tirumal could not understand what to do further when that Chakrayutham(disc) failed. So he told the celestials that he is going to do a penance to obtain a weapon called Sudarsanam (which was created to kill Salandaran) from Lord Shiva.  He worshipped Lord Shiva daily with one thousand Lotus flowers. One day Lord Shiva concealed one lotus flower. Tirumal who came to do pooja on that day as usual felt sad that one flower was missing and so plucked his eyeball and completed the pooja. Lord Shiva felt happy having seen this and called Tirumal as Kamala kannan. Then as desired by Tirumal, Lord Shiva gave him sudarsanam. Thus having given this sudarsanam which can oppose anyone and any thing in this world to Tirumal in appreciation of Tirumal’s Shiva Bhakthi Lord Shiva is being called CHAKRADHANA MOORTHI. He can be seen at Tiruveezhimazhalai near Kumbakonam. The Lord here is known as VIZHI AZHAGAR. His consort’s name is SUNDARA KUSAMBIGAI. He will offer His blessings sought by us if we worship on Sivarathri day with one thousand lotus flowers. He will further give us the necessary wealth to run our livelihood. By doing archana with yellow flowers and offering various fruits as neivethyam on Fri days one will be blessedwith long life, good education and higher positions in jobs.
