VALAI VEESIYA PADALAM: Ond day  in Mount Kailash Lord Shiva was reading a manuscript on Sivagyaana Botham. That book is about the inner meaning conveyed by Vedas. He was preaching that inner meaning to his wife Parvathi Devi sitting next to him. But the goddess did not hear the same with full involvement. When a teacher is teaching lessons to the students, the students should listen to it attentively. If they listen to the lessons attentively, they need not get it by heart (manappadaam in tamil) in the house. Otherwise  they will be punished both by the parents and teacher. Parvathi Devi also got the punishment. Lord Shiva as a teacher cursed her “O” Parvathi Devi, You, who did not bother about education, will be born in an illiterate fisherman’s house in the earth.” Parvathi Devi with tears in her eyes said “O” God, Please excuse me for the mistake that I have committed and give salvation for me.” Lord Shiva took pity on her but told her that he can alter his curse.” This is also one of my divine plays. This incident has happened with a purpose only. I myself will come and accept you.”. Parvathi Devi reached the earth with peace of mind. Vinayakar and Murugan felt that injustice has been to their mother and entered the place where Lord Shiva  was staying. Nobody can enter the place of Lord Shiva without getting the permission of Nandhi Devar. This rule applies even to Vinayakar and Murugan. But over ruling his objection both Vinayakar and Murugan. Went snd stood before their father. They threw the manuscripts of Vedas which were kept there and they fell into the sea.. Lord Shiva became angry on them though they were his sons, for not giving respect to Vedas.. No one can curse Vinayakar. It will boomerang on the very same person who gave the curse. So Lord Shiva showered all the curses on Murugan instead of on Vinayakar. “O” Muruga, you, who did not give respect to your father You will take birth as a child in the earth in Aalavaay city in a business man’s family. They will name you as Ruthrasaman. You will be dumb”.

He called the Nandhi and cursed him”Nandheeswara,It was your duty to stop persons who come to see me, however big and great they may be. Because you were unable to stop them, very rare Veda Books fell at sea. So you will also be a shark(Sura meen in tamil)and lie in the sea.” Nandhi Devar immediately fell at the feet of Lord Shiva. He said “O” God, What will I do? Please give me atonement.” Lord Shiva took pity on him and said “Nandheeswara, Mother Parvathi Devi will incarnate herself as Parvatha Kumari in fisher men community. When I arrive to marry her you will also get your old form and shape.” Nandheeswarar fell in the sea as a shark. There was a place called Paakkam in Pandiyan kingdom. Here a good number of fisher men were living. The head of the fisher men community did not have child. Both he and his wife were unhappy because of that. One day when he was walking in the beach road, on the edge of the road, beneath a mast wood tree(Punnai maram in tamil) he heard the crying voice of a baby. He rushed to that place along with his friends. There was a female baby beneath that tree. It was very, beautiful baby child. There was brightness on its face. Yes. Parvathi Devi had incarnated herself as a female baby. The head of the fisher men was not aware of this  fact. That head of the fishermen was fortunate enough in bringing up the malai magal(daughter of  Himalayan mountain). He who did not have a child, took the baby and gave it to his wife. “O” My dear, it is a gift given by Lord Sundareswarar for us who did not have a child. Yes. Here after she will be our child. Let us bring her up” The wife of that fisherman was also very happy. She put the baby in a cradle. The entire town was very happy in knowing that there head had got a female baby. Mean while Nandhi Devar who was  born as a shark in the sea by mistake, brought to the shore, the Manuscripts of Veda thrown into the sea by Vinayakar and Murugan and handed it over to Lord Shiva. Then he destroyed the boats that come in the sea. The efforts of the head of fisher men to catch it became a failure. Then he declared that he will give her daughter in marriage to that person who catch the shark. But no one wanted to risk their lives to catch it and marry the daughter of the head of the fisher men. At this time Lord Shiva came to their colony in the guise of a fisher man.

On seeing that new fisher man the other fisher men were confused, wondering as to who this new chap would be. He met the head of the fisher me. “O” Leader, I am residing near Madurai. I am an expert in catching fishes. I understand that a shark is moving around in this part of the sea, and it is giving trouble to the fisher man. I came to know that You will get your daughter married to the fisher man who catch it. I have come here to catch that fish.” The head of the fisher men sarcastically replied him “My brother, It is not a fish as you assume. Probably you thought it is a young fish(Meen kunju in tamil). It has the power to destroy even very big boats and ship. It is a shark and not a fish as you think of it. I do not think that you will be able to catch it.” The new fisher man replied,”O” the head of the fisher men, I am neither bothered nor worried about its strength or power. I am the creator, protector and destroyer. He started talking in philosophical words. But the head of the fisher men thought that lad is boasting himself. He replied that lad “I wanted to tell you the facts. But now it is your wish. Yes. If you catch that fish I will give my daughter in marriage to you. He promised the lad. At that time having come to know that some lad has come to catch that shark, Parvathi Devi stood on the balcony of her house and looked at him. Lord Shiva who has come as a fisher man in disguise also saw her. Both their eyes met each other in love. He smiled at her and entered into the sea. He spread the fishing net by sitting in his boat. The shark which came as usual, to turn upside down the boat and destroy it, on seeing the person seated in the boat and understood who he is,  came with all humility and got itself caught on its own in the net. There was no limit to the happiness of the fisher men. They also came along with the shark which was caught. The other girls among the fisher men community, wondered “What a lovely hero he is? Will he not be the bride groom for us?”Their craving was visible from their eyes and from the way their breasts were going up and down. The head of the fisher men hugged him and kissed his fore head. “I made sarcastic remarks at you that you are a person who is good in talking but not in action and I feel sorry for those comments. Now you accept my daughter.”Their marriage took place nicely. At that both Lord Shiva and Parvathi Devi showed their original forms and blessed them. Lord Shiva blessed the fisher men head “You got me as your son in law and my wife as your daughter. You will live in the earth for a very long number of years happily and then reach Mount Kailash.”He woke up the shark in the fishing net and it got back its original form as Nandhi Devar and saw the wedding posture of the Lord. The fisher men were doublyhappy having got the darshan of Nandhi Devar also. Lord Murugan who was born as Ruthra sarman also reached the  Mount Kailash.
