Tirupathi laddu was known by the name Manoharam once upon a time. Approximately 6000 kilogram Bengal gram powder(kadalai Mavu),12,000 kilogram,750 kilogram cashewnut,200 kilogram cardamom, 500 litres ghee, 30 kilogram edible oil,500 kilogram sugar candy(kalkandu),600 kilogram dry grapes, 50 kilogram almond are used daily to prepare the Laddus. The important prasadam Laddu is known world over as the important prasadam of Ezhumalaiyan. The devasthanam is preparing approximately two to three laddus daily at Tirupathi. 3,300 tons of ghee required for making laddu is purchased. The devasthanam spends around one hundred crores of Rupees for this purpose. To ensure that the flavour doe not get reduced the devasthanam has decided that its flavour and taste  to install six big storage tanks, to store and keep it in a natural way. If ghee is purchased in huge quantities at a time it is possible that its flavour and standard slowly gets reduced. In order to study the necessary steps to avoid this, the devasthanam has constituted a six member committee.As an immediate the devasthanam has decided to purchase old ghee and go in for fresh ghee. At the same time necessary steps will be taken to avoid shortage of ghee at any point time and make it available continuously. The permanent steps to be taken after going through the report of the said six member committee. With these steps it is believed that there will be an increase in flavour.
