There is a reason behind the rushing by the doctor towards the Mosque. Who is there in the seat where Sai is usually seated? Is it not Lord Rama son of King Dasaratha? My Rama is appearing with a bow in his hand and with a just blown Lotus face of Rama. I went in search of you to so many places. Finally are you here? Your feet much be aching now as you have walked in the forest for fourteen years. Shall I hold and kneed your feet with my hands? The doctor suddenly caught hold of the feet of Baba. Lord Rama has established the importance of the principle of surrender. Whether it is the hunter the Guha or the monkey king Sugreeva or demon Vibheeshana , Rama the philanthropist, will give protection to all who have submitted themselves to him and surrendered at his feet. He is the Kagusstha who gave protection to a crow. He stroked gently the back of a Squirrel with affection. Please protect me also “O” My Lord, I, who have surrendered at your feet.
Thinking like this when he looked up he had a shock. He suddenly shook his hands. There Baba was sitting with a smiling face and not Rama. Whether the scene that he saw some time back was a false one? Did my eyes cheated me? O.K. How Lord Rama who used to be in the temple will be here? The doctor’s head swirled. He went back to his place where he was staying without uttering a word. Baba changed himself as Rama is true or a hallucination. Let Baba himself reveal the secret.. I am not going to take any food till then and started his fasting with a firm and determined mind. Three days passed. His stomach was voicing its concern to look after it. But he did not pay heed to the voice of the stomach. He did not inform anyone about his fasting or his thoughts to anyone. On the early morning of the fourth day, his friend residing in a village called Kandhesh came to Shirdi to see him.
He has not seen Baba so far. He requested the doctor to come along with him to meet Baba. Because of the insistence of his friend Doctor walked towards the mosque along with his friend. Whether Rama and Baba are one and the same person? Will I get answer today for this question? I will have to continue my fasting till I get an answer for this riddle. The Doctor along with his friend entered the Mosque. Baba, on seeing the friend of the doctor enquired at him Are you coming from Kandesh ? Whether all are safe at Kandesh? How did Baba knew that he is coming from Kandesh? Both the doctor and his friend looked at Baba in bewilderment. Baba asked the doctor “Oh” doctor, Did any one come to call you? Why have you come? Answer me?” Hearing this pricking question the doctor was over come. He recalled his firm resolve and become penitent. However that very night, at midnight he was graced and he had the experience of sweetness of heavenly bliss, during his sleep. Later on the doctor returned to his home town but continued to experience that completely happy state of mind for a fortnight. His devotion for Sai Baba intensified.
Among those who come to see Baba, majority will be with an appeal to cure their diseases. Inspite of taking various types medicines and not cured of their diseases , merely the darshan of Baba cured their diseases. For poor patients Baba was a God. They had more confidence on Baba than on their doctors. Once Booty had two problems to tackle at the same time. One was Diarrhoea The other one was vomiting which was occurring once in every five minutes . Within few days he became very weak. He became bed ridden. Baba asked one of his devotees to bring him to the mosque somehow and sent him to Booty. Booty came to the mosque leaning on the shoulder of that devotee.
He cried before “Baba please save me”. Baba looking at Booty pointedly ordered in a raised and firm tone “Your diarrhea and vomiting should stop immediately. This is my order. Did you understand?” Baba’s words have magical powers. The disease causing germs got afraid by the rebuke of Baba. The very next moment the disease left his body. Booty prostrated at the feet of Baba wand walked back to his dwelling place. He thought of the compassion shown by Baba on him and his heart moved.
There was another devotee of Baba by the name Ganpath. He was suffering by malaria disease. He surrendered at the feet of Baba. A mere look at him made Baba to understand that the disease was due to the bad karmas of his previous birth. Nobody expected that the type of remedy told by Baba will cure that disease. When Baba started telling him to take some cooked rice and curd and mix them together Ganpath immediately intervened and asked him with great concern as to how many times he should take that curd rice. Baba replied with a smile in his face “I did not tell that you should eat.” Then he advised him what he should do with that curd rice. What is the relation between doing that and his disease. How his disease will be cured by doing so?. Ganpath was wonder struck…
