8.1  Flowers  as per time:  Morning: Lotus, coral flower, Tulsi, Nava Malligai(a variety of jasmine), Nandiyaavattai(a kind of flower), Manthaarai(ebony flower), Mullai(arabian jasmine), Shnbagam(champak flower), Punnagam(mast wood flower), Thaazhai( a fragrant screwpine flower),
Mid day: White lotus, Arali(oleander), Purasu, Tulasi, Neithal(white water lily/blue nelumbo), Bilva leaves, Sangu pushpam, Maruthani(henna plant), Govithaaram, Orithazh,
Evening: Red lotus, Alli, Jasmine, Jaathi Mullai, Marukkozhunthu(fragrant southern wood), Vettiver(Root cuscus plant), Gajakarnigai, Tulasi, Bilva leaves

8.2  Ashta Pushpangal(eight flowers} Arugu(the cynodon grass), Shenbagam(champak flower). Punnagam(mast wood flower), Nandhiyavattai( a kind of flower), Paathiri(trumpet flower), Bragathi, Arali(oleander), Thumbai (the plant leucas),

8.3  How Many days each flower can be kept:  Lotus---5 days,  Arali—3 days,  Bilva leaves 6 months,  Tulasi—3 months,  Thaazham Poo 5—days,  Neithal---3 days,  Shenbagam---1 day,  Vishnukranthi---3 days, Vilamichchai---always.

8.4  Flowers that should not be used :  Flowers brought by hand, Flowers that withered automatically from the tree on to the ground, Flowers brought on castor seed leaf/calotropis(erukku in tamil) leaves, Flowers without fragrance, withered, flowers with hair, Flowers whose fragrance was enjoyed by nostrils, artificially blossomed flower(as against natural blossoming), flowers plucked in un hygienic conditions, Flowers brought by wearing a wet dress, Flowers got through alms, flower buds(not blossomed yet),  are not used for poojas.

8.5  Tulsi, shenbagam, lotus, bilva leaves, Kalharam, Marukkozhunthu, Maruthani, Tharuppai(holy grass), arugu, asivalli, Naayuruvi(stick weed), Vishnukranthi, Nelli . The leaves of the above plants, trees, climbers can b used for poojas.

8.6  Atchathai  (unbroken rice smeared with turmeric  paste), Vellerukku(the madar plant, yercum), OOmaththai(datura seed) leaves are not used for Vishnu Poojas. Semparuththi(Hibiscus flower),Thaazhamboo,(screwpine flower), kuntham, Kesaram, Kudajam, Japa pushpam should not be used for Shiva Pooja. Arugu, Vellerukku, Mantharam should not be used for Ambal)Goddeess). Tulasi is not used for Ganapathi.

8.7  Flowers should not be kept upside down. But during Pushpanjali(archanai by flowers) if the flowers fall upside down it does not matter. The flowers should not be  cut into small pieces by hand or by blade and then used. Should be used as such as a whole).
