Lord Vaidyanatha is a swayambumurthi. Sorgavasal entry (as the Vaikunda Ekadasi Sorgavasal event in Vishnu temples) on the Makara Sankranthi is a devotional event in the temple. There are five Shiva temples close to each other and the devotee can visit them in a single day. If five Mondays occur in the Karthikai month with the combination of Visaka, Anuradha and Jyeshta stars, Sapthaha Utsav is celebrated in the temple. Such Sapthahas were celebrated in the temple in the years1979, 1986, 1993, 2006 and 2009. When it so occurs, devotees take a bath in the Cauvery and worship at all five Shiva templs. This worship brings the devotee multifold benefits in this birth itself. | |
