SANGATHTHAR KALAGAM THEERTHTHA PADALAM: In Tamil academy there were  48 learned people(Pulavar). They named the grammar taught by Agasthiyar as Agaththiyam. Each one of the learned people verified the poems written by them on the basis of that grammar. Then each one of them argued that on the basis of the grammar, their own poem is the best. A dispute  began  to decide whose poem is the best one. During the course of time, this dispute led to a big fight and it was feared that the academy itself will extinct. A stage reached when if this continues, none can save the academy. So all of them rushed to Lord Sundareswarar. “O” God,  we are fighting in our earnest desire to decide whose poem is the best among ours. You should decide as to whose is the best after reading all of them”  prayed all the learned men. At that moment Lord Sundareswarar appeared before them. HE said “O” Learned men, Only Business man  Dhanapathi’s son,, residing in our city will be able to decide whose poem is the best. You go there and give to him all the palm manuscripts to him. Accept the judgement given by him.”The learned rushed to the residence of Dhanapathi. Dhanapathy’s wife Gunasalini on seeing the learned men arriving at their residence, became very happy. At the same time she was worried in not knowing the reason for their arrival. The learned men asked her “where  is the businessman Dhanapathi and where is his son?”  She replied that both of them are there only ( in the house only). They told her We want to see Ruthramsan (son of Dhanapathi). Lord Sundareswarar himself has directed us to meet him and find out whose poems amongst us is the best one from him. She replied “What are you telling? He is dumb right from his birth. He can not talk. How can he decide and settle your problem?” The learned laughed among themselves. They replied “Mother, we know about this already. Lord Sundareswarar had already informed about this already to us. She was surprised on hearing this and wondered “what a great honour for my dumb son?” She prayed with folded hands to Lord Sndareswarar looking at the direction where his shrine is situated and said “Lord Sundareswara, You have not let down any one who is residing on this Madurai soil”. The learned men metRuthramsan They explained to him their problems and dispute. Ruthramsan came to the Tamil academy. The learned men recited their poems. He appreciated those poems which he liked by tapping on his thigh. Finally he declared that the poems of Nakkeerar, Kabilar and Paanar are the best one. But he didn’t reject the other’s poems. He corrected the  errors and faults that he found in them and made the academy to give recognition for them also.
