That rich man insisted Baba that he should be given Brahma gnan(Self realization). He went on persisting Baba that preference should be given to him as he had arrived from another town. Baba was smiling in himself. Is Brahma gnan is a purchasable commodity? How can this man who is mad after of money can get Brahma gnan? Baba played a drama in his presence. He called a small boy and asked him to go to the residence of Nandhu Marwadi and fetch a hand loan of Rupees five.  The boy went to his residence and returned back immediately and said that the house is locked, Then Baba directed him to go to the Grocery merchant  Bala  and fetch five rupees from him. Bala house was also locked. Likewise he was directing the boy to go to all houses which  are locked(as if he was aware that those houses will be locked only). When the boy gave the information that they are also locked after finding so in each visit, At the same  time when this news was conveyed to Baba by the boy Baba was looking at the rich man, each time when this news was conveyed.  But there was no movement in that rich man’s  body at all. Yet he insisted Baba to teach him Brahma gnan. Baba shouted at that rich person.  

“In your shirt pocket you have twenty notes each with a denomination of Rupees Ten. That is you Brahmam. I am asking with several people to give me a hand loan of Rupees ten. You didn’t think of giving one five rupees out of the two hundred and fifty rupees you are having. Yet you want Brahma Gnan.  I can give to any one whatever they want. But the receiver should have the necessary qualification to receive that. For you money is Brahmam, The rich person was taken aback on hearing the shouting of harsh words by Baba. He was wondering as to how Baba knew that he had Rs. 250 in his pocket.  He took leave of Baba in a shameful manner.  Thus there are several leelas in Baba’s life. There is no end for it. Even after attaining Maha Samadhi and attaining fame the leelas continue to happen in several devotees lives. All incarnations will have to come to an end one day, Lord Rama merged in Sarayu river, Lord Krishna went back to heavens being hit by the arrow of an hunter. Likewise each human incarnation has to shed its  physical body one day. Whether the Divine power which came into this world  taking a human form goes back to heaven or remains spread in this entire world. The truth is the divine power out of its compassion on human beings lives permanently in this world.

That is why People are benefitted by the blessings of Baba even today. Baba has decided to shower his blessings to all his devotees in his subtle form. So he decided to shed his physical form or body.  On 28th September  1918  Baba had a mild fever. He stopped taking food. On 16th October he appeared in the dream of Dasganu Maharaj.” I am going to shed this physical body. Please come immediately and cover my body with Kathama flowers. “ ordered Baba. Dasganu rushed to Shirdi immediately. Then baba asked his friend by name Vase  to read the Rama Vijayam portion in the Ramayana. Vase read that portion  several times for a good number of days and felt tired. Baba gestured at  him that it is enough and went into self imposed silence. October 18, 1918 was Vijaya dasami day. An auspicious day. A day decided by Baba to cross the boundary of his body, go beyond that  body  and remain in all places. Though he had some physical discomfort  which he expressed in a mild manner, he was remaining conscious. A few moments  before his final time he sat up in his seat. Only few days earlier he informed his devotee Lakshmi Bai shinde that he feels hungry.

Laksmi went back to her house saying to Baba that she will be back in a few minutes and brought some roti and some vegetables and kept it before Baba. Baba took them and gave it to a dog, Lakshmi bai shed tears. “Baba, you told me that you are hungry. That is why I rushed to my house and prepared the Roti with my own hands with devotion and brought it here. But you are throwing it to a dog.” Lamented Lakshmi Bai. Baba answered her question in his own style. “Why do you feel sad? Are the dog and I are separate entities. I am there inside that dog. It will also feel hungry. If you remove the hunger of any living being  that approaches you with hunger, that food  offered to those living beings reaches me only. This you should understand first. On hearing the advice of Baba, Lakshmi bai went near him and prostrated at him. She fully understood that it is the Almighty (Called Para Brahmam in Tami)  which has taken the human form. From that day onwards she saw Baba only, in all living beings. Baba remembered the services rendered to him by Lakshmi Bai. How can he forget her? He put his hands into his pocket and took five rupees first and again took from his pocket  second time another four rupees and thus he gave her a total amount of Nine rupees.

Lakshmi Bai is a well settled woman. She felt that the reason behind this offering of nine ruppes is that she should follow Nava Bhakthi(Nine forms devotion). She accepted those coins with tears in her eyes. Baba was very conscious till the very last moment. He was advising his devotees that they should not feel sad or unhappy. He did not lie on the ground nor on his bed. He shed his physical body by sitting in his seat and making the offerings with his own hands. “You need not go too far off in search of me. I am the one residing within you as well as within all living beings, Look for me within you and within all the living beings In this world. All those who come to me merge in me like a river merging in the ocean. Please understand this’ says Shirdi Sai Baba.
