Among the various sevas offered to  Tirumal Venkatesan the suprabatha seva occupies the first place. At the dawn the archakas, cooks, Temple peons and veena vidwans will reach the golden gate. They will open the doors after praying Dwarabalakas and offering prayers in their mind. After all of them have entered the gates will be closed.

Then lamps will be lit in the sannadhi. Venkatesa suprabatham will be sung. They will then wake up the Boga srinivsa moorthi kept in the cot the previous night. Then they will keep the idol of Boga Srinivasa moorthi near the Moolavar in the usual place. Towards the end of the singing of suprabatham once again the doors will be opened. Milk and butter will be offered as neivedyam and deeparathanai will take place. This is called NAVANEETHA AARATHI. This is called suprabatha darsanam and Viswaroopa darsanam. One requires crores of eyes to see the Perumal husband of Tirumagal under the light of lamps lit in the sannidhi.

Do you know who was lucky enough and had the pride to pen this suprabatham for the Archavathara Moorthi (idol)?

He is Prathivathi Payangaram Annngarachariar. This suprabatham was written by him about 600 years ago. Thereafter by a mahan who was born in his lineage, bearing the same name and lived for 99 years taught to Sri P.V. Ananthasayanam ayyangar in a proper manner. During his life time Prathivathivathi payangaram Annangarachariar wrote more than 1240 books. He was proficient in Tamil, Sanskrit,Hindi and Telugu languages. He has written a book under the title  Divya Prabhantha Thivyartha Deepigai which is a treatise for Azhwars songs. He got the President award also.

Tamil Thatha U.V.Swaminatha Iyer will hear all his lectures with interest. I am by birth U.V.(Uththamathanapuram Venkata rama Iyer. But you are by your intelligence U.V. (Upaya vedanthi). So said Tamil Thatha in praise of him.

U.V. Annangarachariar was publishing a magazine called Ramanujar.  Ananthasayanam Ayyangar who learnt the recital of Venkatesa Suprabatham from U.V. Annangarachariar recited the same through out his life time at the sannidhi of Lord Venkateswara during suprabatha seva each and every morning. Ananthasayanam ayyangar was the person who released gramophone record for the first time. After his demise only the suprabatham sung by M.S. Subbulakshmi was began to broadcast.

Nayanachariar son of Prathivathi payangaram Vedantha desikar taught samanya sasthram to him. Thereafter after hearing the greatness of Manavala mamuni, went to srirangam, surrendered at his feet and then learnt Athyathma sasthras with his blessings he became one among the Astathik gajarayars. While he was a disciple of Nayanachariar he won in a eloquent competition and debate, Nayanachariar called him Prathivathi payangaram in appreciation of his victory. Thereafter He and all others who came in his lineage(vamsam) werebeing called with that title Prathivathipayangaram.
