  Besides the full moon day – Poornima – Thiruvilakku Puja each month, the temple celebrates a 16 day festival in Vaikasi – May-June.

  There is a shrine for Santoshi Madha in this temple, popular only in north. There are just a few temples for Santoshi Madha daughter of Lord Sri Vinayaka in south. This temple has a shrine for this deity. Chitra Gupta also has a shrine in the temple.

Besides the presiding deity Mother Draupathi Amman, the temple has shrines for Mother Sri Santoshi Madha, Sani Bhagwan, Jupiter-Guru, Lord Valampuri Vinayaka, Mother Sri Badrakali, Srimuthalu Muthar Swami, Sri Satyanarayana Swami, Sri Nallamudi Aravan worshipped by Thirunangais and the custodian deity Sri Veerabadara.

 
     
Prayers
    
 

Women worship Sri Santoshimadha each Friday following a fasting without citric items and chant Her names for child boon, all prosperity and a happy life.  People also pray here for wedding boon.  Those suffering from health problems pray to Chitra Gupta.

Devotees pray to Sri Guru Bhagwan – Jupiter – on Thursdays, Mother Draupathi Amman on Fridays and Sani Bhagwan on Saturdays and participate in the pujas.

 
     
  Temple History:
     
 

After the devastating fire that Kannagi caused that burnt the city, people of Madurai surrendered to Mother Parvathi and prayed for protection of the city from such calamities.  Mother Parvathi advised them to build a temple for Draupathi who had the power to control the five elements of the world viz. fire, space, wind, water and earth and worship Her. This temple came into being then for the worship of all people.
