Tamil New Year day Puja for Sun God falling almost on April 14 or a day before or after occasionally in some years; Thai Pongal falling almost on January 14 and Navarathri in September-October are the festivals celebrated in the temple.
Temple's Speciality:
The rays of Sun fall on Lord and Mother during the first 7 days of Chithirai-April-May. It is believed that Sun performs the Shiva Puja these days, hence the midday puja is not performed in the temple. The scar caused by the cut of the king is visible on the Shivalinga.
Opening Time:
The temple is open from 7.30 a.m. to 11.00 a.m. and from 4.30 p.m. to 7.30 p.m. On Sundays the temple is open from 6.00 a.m. to 1.00 p.m.
