|
The three centuries old pressing deity of the temple, Boon
Giver God Lord Varadaraja Perumal is the Kula Devatha for thousands of
fishermen families in this locality.
The story further goes that an affluent man living during
the Kings period took the idol of Lord in his possession which he had as
security for a loan he advanced, to a forest and left there secretly. The idol of the Lord was later found and a
small temple was then built. The
fishermen undertake fasting in the month of Purattasi – September- October and
submit their prayers at His feet. The
tradition is on for the past many years.
They believe that all progress in their life is granted by their Lord
