	During the celebration of Chithirai festival in April-May in the Gowmari Amman Temple, the puja for the Flag Post (Kodi Maram) is conducted in this temple. Also special pujas are performed on Tamil New Year day and other important days.

	Greatness Of Temple:

	Those suffering from impaired vision pray to Lord Kannedwaram Udayar and also the Gowmari Amman in the nearby temple. Mother Goddess is praised as Aram Valartha Nayaki (Goddess who developed Dharma) and is all merciful. The place is named after the king Veerapandi. Devotees also enjoy bathing in River Mullai with children as the water has high medicinal and healing effects from the herbal plants in the Western Ghats.

	Temple History:

	Pandya king Veerapandian lost his vision due to some ill effects of his last birth (Poorva janma karma). Naturally, as every one falls at the feet of the Lord when suffering occurs, the king prayed o the Lord with all sincerity. As advised by the Lord, he proceeded to worship Mother Gowmari on the banks of Mullai River, who restored the vision of one eye. To get the vision of the other eye restored, Goddess advised the king to worship Lord Shiva in the Linga form which She was worshipping. The king got back the vision of both eyes after following the advice of Goddess. The Lord advised the king to build a temple. The king devotionally did it. Kanneeswaram Udayar temple came into being.
