 Greatness Of Temple:

Gobichettipalayam Andavarmalai Lord Muruga Temple is very ancient in history with a huge number of yogis and devotees seeking His blessings.

As the saying goes, every hill is the Abode of Lord Muruga, the place has the reputation of having three hills, Pachaimalai, Pavalamalai and Andavarmalai with Lord Lord Muruga presiding in different forms.

Lord Muruga is Balamuruga in Pachaimalai, Muthukumaraswamy in Pavalamalai and Baladandathuthapani in Andavarmalai gracing His devotees. Lord Muruga is the Chief and Principal deity of the Tamil Language presiding over the Tirumurugattrupadai being the first of the Three volumes of the Sangam literatures, named Pathupattu, Ettuthogai and Pathinenkeezhkanakku. Every literature in Tamil has Muruga in some form or other for comparison of wisdom and heroism in their stories.

Muruga is the product of the six sparks from Lord Shiva’s five faces and the eye on His forehead. Sects in Hinduism are six. Goshas are six. Basic life points in human body known as Aadara Chakras are six. Vedas and Ithikasas are six. Gnanamargas (Path to wisdom) are six. Sasthras are six. Lord Muruga is the combination of all these great philosophies that make the constitution of the great Vedic religion, now popularly known as Hindu religion. The ocean of mercy, Lord Murga graces in the Andavarmalai hills in His standing form and offers the devotees their wants.

  Temple History:

The antiquity of Andavarmalai Murugan temple is believed to be beyond the calculations of time. An enlightened soul, Poosari Siddhar was in this hill blessing the devotees with his predictions. Kuppana Siddhar was then here for a long time.

The renovations of the temple began in the year 1980 and continued till 1990 and were completed then.
