Greatness Of Temple: | |
It is believed that a piece of Sanjeevi mount fell in this
part of the Kongu region while Sri Anjaneya was carrying it to save Lord Sri
Rama and Lakshmana. People here call it
Sanjeevi or Oodhiyur hill. The temple is
on this hill. Passing through the Mayil
Mandap – peacock hall, is the Paada Vinayagar temple with shrines for Idumban
and Hanumantharayan on the north and south side of way respectively. There is a mandap at the top called Kurattu
Vasal. The darshan of Lord
Velayuthaswami in the hill that was home to many Siddhas in the past, would
keep the devotee ever free from poverty in life. |

Temple History: | |
There is a cave in the hill where Kongana Siddhar performed
penance and had the darshan of Lord Shiva.
He used clay tubes and passed air through mouth breathing to make gold
by pouring the essence of herbal leaves.
There are some such clay tubes still in the hill. Hence the place is called Oodhiyur Malai and
also Kongana Giri linked with the life of Kongana Siddha. |
