Sashti, Visaka and Kruthika star days are followed in the temple with special pujas. Thai Poosam in Jan-Feb and Panguni Uthiram in March April are the two great festivals celebrated in the temple. During the 13 day Thai Poosam festival, devotees go round the Ther Malai hill – girivalam. It is significant that every community, upper caste and the most backward, draw the car without discrimination. The Kalasa Puja is performed by Adi Dravidars – Scheduled caste people.
For Panguni Uthirm Festival, water is drawn from Kodumudi in 108 pots and placed in Lord Manneeswarar temple in Annur and brought to the temple playing folklore music instruments – Tharai, Thappattai to perform abishek to the presiding deity followed by pujas. The festival deity is taken in procession along the outer prakara. The temple is following four pujas a day, Kalasandhi (morning), Uchikala (Midday), Sayaraksha (evening) and Arthajama (night).

Temple History: | |
|
|
|
|
Kumnara Kundru is a place that
has the blessing vibrations of enlightened souls who lived in the region in
olden days. It is situated on the south
of Mettupalayam-Annur road, where people were grazing their cattle
earlier. During such gracing, the little
boys playing there found an idol and found it damaged. The elders in the place, built a small temple
and began worshipping. As they felt it
is against the Agama rules to worship a damaged idol, they made a new one,
installed Lord Muruga with His consorts Valli and Deivanai. The temple grew in size drawing huge devotee
crowd. Since then, the place came to be
called Kumaran Kundru – The hill of Lord Muruga.
