Dasara-Navarathri and Vijaya Dasami are followed in the temple on such time and days as in Mysore.  Nava Durga is taken in procession and then immersed in the river.

  Temple History:

A part of South Karnataka was then called Thulu Nadu.  The residents of the place belong to Pillava community.  Temple entry was denied to them in the 19th century.  All protests and agitations ended in vain.  It was also the period when Sri Narayana Guru built 301 temples to establish the right of all communities to worship God with equal dignity.  Pillava people approached Sri Narayana Guru to realize their rights.  As advised by him, they built the Kuthroli temple, installed a Shivalinga and named Him Gokarna Natheswarar.
Lord Gokarna Natheswarar temple is built on vast area covering 2 lakh square feet with marbles.  The Rajagopuram of the temple is in Tamilnadu style built in the year 1991.
