 Greatness Of Temple:

Sri Veerabadra with His four hands graces devotees from the sanctum sanctorum.  He is holding an armour in the left hand instead of a danda.  Daksha is on the right and Badrakali on the left.  Mother Kali is holding Pasa the rope, trident and Udukkai in Her hands.  Special abisheks are offered to Sri Veerabadra during the Ashtamis (8th day) of new moon fortnight.  It is said that Sage Sukhavana had the darshan of the Lord in this place.   As Sri Veerabadra belongs to Shiva attribute, a Shivalinga is also installed in the shrine.  Lord Shiva is praised as Sangameswarar.  People worship Him as Veerabadra Himself.
Lord Raja Ganapathi blesses devotees from a point opposite the Navagraha shrine exactly opposite to Sri Sani Bagwan.  As Sani Baghwan is on the direct view of Lord Vinayaka, he is praised as Anugraha Murthy.  People under the adverse Saturn aspects worship both the planet and Vinayaka together.  On the roof above the Shiva shrine, are the drawings of zodiac signs with the respective deities.
During the pujas to Sri Veerabadra on New Moon, Full Moon and monthly Shivratris, devotees offer pulses (Mochai Payaru in Tamil) , sugar potato etc. as nivedhana.  Generally, Vilwa and betel leaf garlands are offered to Him.  In this temple, bamboo leaf garlands are used.  Devotees believe that this worship would promote unity among couples and in the family.  It is explained that bamboo is flexible and this would reflect in the qualities of the family members by adjusting with one another.

  Temple History:

Sage Agasthya, during his pilgrimage to Shiva sthalas, stayed in Oothumalai near this place for a while.  He installed a Shivalinga here, performed pujas seeking His darshan as Lord Veerabadra.  Lord obliged the sage’s wish.  Remembering this event, a Veerabadra temple was built here.
