	Presiding deity of the temple is a swayambumurthy. Mothers Mari Amman and Kali Amman grace from a single peeta on the right and left sides respectively.

	There are shrines for Nagar and Lord Vinayaka in the prakara. The temple is of Kerala model. Sweet pudding – Sarkarai Pongal is offered as nivedhana to Mother Mari Amman

	Prayers

	People pray here for child boon by tying a cradle in Ambica shrine, spill the water from Sanjeevi theertham and move it to and fro to realize their wish. Also those facing speech problems tie a bell in the shrine and light Maa Vilakku made of a paste of rice flour and ghee.

	Thanks giving:

	Those realizing their child boon commit to walk on the fire pit-pookuzhi. After the birth of the child, during the Aadi Utsav, they execute this commitment. They hold the child with them while passing through pookuzhi and feed it with milk offered to Ambica. It is believed that by doing so, the child would be blessed with all longevity and be at the care of Mother Ambica in all safety.

	Greatness Of Temple:

	It is noteworthy that Mother Mari Amman is the family deity of the 18 villages surrounding Daramangalam. There are twin Ambicas – Mother Mari Amman and Mother Kali Amman on a single peeta on the right and left sides respectively. It is said that a devotee fell asleep in the temple when Kali Amman appeared in his dream and directed to install Her by the side of Mari Amman. She was installed accordingly. They are praised as Sisters by the people of this place.

	Temple History:

	Many years ago, some devotees were taking Cannanore Mariamman on a horse through this place. They stayed at this place as darkness set. Ambica spoke to one of the devotees in his dream that She was in Swayambu form under the place and asked him to build a temple. When they dug the place, they found Ambica and built this temple. As this Ambica was found while carrying the Cannanore Ambica, She is so named – Cannanore Mari Amman. The features of Kerala Mari Amman may be noticed resembling on the deity here.
