Meenakshi Amman Temple

No moolavar darshan from 11 to 16 September

Moolavar darshan of both Meenakshi Amman and Sundareswarar is suspended for six days while the kumbabishekam rites proceed.

This page is being kept updated.

Which days

Six days, from 11 to 16 September. On the evening of the 11th the kalakarshanam is performed in the Kambathadi Mandapam and the divine power is invoked into the sacred pots; moolavar worship stops from that point until the twelve ritual sessions are complete.

What you can still see

Moolavar darshan stops, but the yagasala rituals, the parivara shrines, the halls and the golden lotus tank remain open to devotees. At 5am on 16 September the parivara deities receive their own maha kumbabishekam.

The temple administration will announce any late changes, and this page will be kept updated.
