Getting there
The temple stands at the centre of Madurai, inside the ring of Aadi, Chithirai, Aavani Moola and Masi streets — about two kilometres from Madurai Junction railway station and about twelve from the airport.
Diversions and parking
On the kumbabishekam days, and on 16 and 17 September in particular, traffic around the temple will be fully diverted. Temporary parking areas and bus stands are being set up on the city outskirts.
The final police map and the list of parking areas will be published here as soon as they are released.
LED screens
Because entry to the temple is capped, large LED screens are being installed at several points around Madurai. The list of locations will be published here once confirmed.
Phone deposit counters
With camera phones barred, deposit counters operate at the entrances at Rs 5. Full detail is on its own page.
Medical camps and drinking water
Medical camps, drinking water points and ambulances are being arranged around the temple for the crowds. Carry water — the heat will be considerable.
Staying and eating
There is plenty of accommodation around the temple and near Madurai Junction, but rooms will fill for the kumbabishekam days — book ahead.
