Since 1 September, camera phones have been barred from 52 temples, this one among them.
The rule
Phones with cameras may not be carried into the temple precinct. The order has been in force since 1 September.

Where to leave your phone
Deposit counters operate at the entrances. The charge is Rs 5 and a receipt is issued; you collect the phone on the way out against that receipt.
Expect longer queues than usual on the kumbabishekam days, so allow extra time.

What this changes
Nobody inside the temple on the day will be able to photograph the event. It can be followed on the LED screens outside and on our live page.
