Also known as Chokkanathar and Sundara Pandyan. The temple tradition holds that he married Meenakshi and ruled Madurai with her, and he is the protagonist of the sixty-four Thiruvilaiyadal episodes. He is worshipped in the form of a swayambhu lingam.
